Letter from Senator Jeanne Shaheen:

August 9, 2023

Dear Friends,

Please know that I join you in spirit today as you celebrate National Health Center Week and reaffirm the critical value of facilities like White Mountain Community Health Center in shaping healthy communities. Thank you to the medical providers, social workers, specialists, and community health advocates at WMCHC for your dedication to your patients, their loved ones, and our community.

By offering primary care services, connecting patients with supportive resources and welcoming all financial situations and personal circumstances, WMCHC is a leader in public health in New Hampshire. Delivering high-quality healthcare to rural communities challenges providers to be adaptable in their approach but unwavering in their advocacy. For over 20 years, WMCHC has educated and supported patients, meeting them at the intersection of their physical, mental, oral and nutritional health. WMCHC knows that financial burden is the most significant barrier for patients to access critical healthcare. Through your sliding fee scale, financial assistance programs and private funds, you ease those barriers to ensure that all people are assured their human right: health care.

I join you in celebrating Health Centers around the country this week. Community wellness is integral to the prosperity of our Granite State, and your efforts every day make us stronger. I look forward to continuing this fight together as we work to expand healthcare for all. I wish you all the best as you continue your good work.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Shaheen
United States Senator

Letter from Congressman Chris Pappas

Dear Friends,

I join you in celebrating this year’s National Health Center Week with the White Mountain Community Health Center’s (WMCHC) Hoops and Scoops. This week we recognize the WMCHC’s 50-year commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality health care to the Mount Washington Valley community. It is thanks to health centers like WMCHC that primary care is never out of reach for Granite Staters.

As your Member of Congress, I have called on my Congressional colleagues to fully fund our Health Centers to ensure these critical access points remain available to all. There should never be a choice between staying healthy or risking a significant financial burden, and this is why I have called for expanded use of New Access Point grant funds for Federally Qualified Health Centers. These funds help health centers, such as the WMCHC, establish new delivery sites to provide comprehensive primary care that our communities deserve.

I commend the tireless work of the WMCHC and its 50 years of service to the Mount Washington Valley. National Health Center Week honors the innovative, quality care provided by community health centers nationwide, and the WMCHC remains a staple of community health in New Hampshire. It is thanks to WMCHC’s compassionate work and ingenuity that patients can always be confident that they will have access to the care they need.

Thank you to the many staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly on behalf of Valley residents. We are grateful for your service, and your efforts have supported the health and wellbeing of so many Granite Staters.

Sincerely,

Chris Pappas
Member of Congress
