Join White Mountain Community Health Center for the fifth annual Whitaker Wander 5k! On Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. runners and walkers will wend their way through the beautiful trails of North Conway’s Whitaker Woods. The 5k will be followed by a 1-mile Kids’ Fun Run at 9:45 a.m.

And new this year – we’ll have professional chip timing by Granite State Race Services! WMWV will be live broadcasting, and there will be hula hooping, great raffle prizes, and more.

Registration opens on March 8 at https://www.runreg.com/wander2026.

Board President and Race Director Caitlin Behr, RN, said, "This 5k run and walk is a fun, friendly, and encouraging event that celebrates health and wellness in our community. We are so happy to see this event growing year after year. I look forward to seeing familiar and new participants in May!”

The Whitaker Wander 5k was first held in 2019 to support the health center’s programs and bring awareness to all of the services the organization offers the community. The health center fosters community-wide health through quality and compassionate services. These include primary care, dental care, substance use disorder treatment, dietician services, reproductive health services, a teen walk-in clinic, behavioral health care, and care coordination. The organization makes sure that everyone in Mount Washington Valley can access these services through a generous sliding fee scale and other programs that remove barriers to care.

Support from the community makes this possible. Funds raised through the Whitaker Wander 5k will go towards all of their programs, helping to make healthcare accessible to everyone in Mount Washington Valley.

Siena Kaplan-Thompson, director of communications and development, explained, “We hear from so many people how much the health center has meant to them over the years, and what a difference they see these programs making in the community. This is a chance for everyone to come together, celebrate those successes, and highlight the importance of having a community where everyone can get the care they need to be healthy.”

She added, “If you don’t know much about us, it’s also a great chance to find out what we’re about.” Community health workers will be at the race to share info and answer questions about the health center’s programs.

If you are a patient of the health center and the registration fees will make it difficult for you to participate, please call us at (603) 447-8900 during business hours to request a code for free or discounted registration.
